as a insert Premium by the W.F. MCLAUGHLIN & Co.  of  Chicago Illinois. to advertise their brand of XXXX Coffee, during the 1889 (as the copyright states on the front of the card).  It is one from a series of 18 cards entitl
ed
“ Peculiar WAR SHIPS of the World ” .  This series has been designat
ed
as series K64 in Burdick’s American Card Catalogue.   The front of the card shows a fantastic image of the featur
ed
ship full of color and great detail.  The back of the card features a brief description of the ship as well as advertising for  McLaughlin XXXX Coffee, and indicates that there is  “One of these cards in each Package”.  This card features a THE SPANISH WAR SHIP PELAYO.  The colorful lithography was produc
ed
by the Lithographer the Cosack and Company of Buffalo & Chicago.  The card measures 5 1/16 inches by  3 ¾  inches approximately. The card does have some lighter creasing.  I have scann
