    Description

This fantastic circa 1890’s (possibly earlier) lithographed counter card sign was from the  Drummond Tobacco Company of  St. Louis Mo.,  to advertise their brand of Horse Shoe Plug Chewing Tobacco.  It was designed to go on the side of the counter display of the packages of the tobacco.  It features a trio of gorgeous (and what was probably considered slightly scandalous at the time)  dancing girls (the pin-up / burlesque girls of their day).  Garters and cleavage were  a rare sight back in the day so I imagine this caught the attention of many a man when going to get their chewing tobacco from their local store.  The lithography is stunning with each of the small horseshoes being done with a metallic color ink that shines in reflected light.  Unfortunately the lithographer is not identified on the sign. The back states “ To the retail merchant: Please tack this card on the left hand side of your butt of Horse Shoe.  It will assist you in selling it.  Drummond tobacco Co.”   The card measures 12 ¼ inches long, by 3 ½ inches wide. It does have a light horizontal crease near the neck of the top girl.  I have show a close up of it in a reflected light so you can see it clearly.  It is not overly noticeable  when looking head on with the naked eye.  There is also what appears to be some paper adhered to spots on the back from when it was attached to the side of the display of tobacco packages.  Over all I think it displays very well considering it is over 120 years old (as it is over 100 years old it is an official antique).  These would have more than likely been thrown away as soon as the display was sold.  Not many wives would tolerate this sign going up in the house  anywhere.  I doubt many have surived over the years (just think this one made it through the  paper/ cardboard drives of 2 world wars!)This card would make an excellent gift for anyone interest

I am actually located in Canada just across the border.  I have a U.S.A. mailing address, and I mail my items from the USA to avoid border delays.
Due to my work schedule and distance to the post office I am only able to ship  Monday Mornings
.  If I haven’t received payment for an item the EVENING BEFORE Monday  the item will have to wait until the next Monday  to go out. Its unfortunate but unavoidable.  If this doesn’t work for you I respectfully ask that you do not bid or buy. Thanks again.
I will COMBINE SHIPPING within Canada and the USA on items of similar size that are sold on the same day.
I am sorry but ebay's global shipping program does not allow combined shipping on International shipments.
