    Description

This  fantastic set of PAPER TOYs (also referr
    ed
to as a Paper Doll or Card )  was issu
    ed
by the BUFFALO SUNDAY EXPRESS of Buffalo New York,  I believe as an insert weekend supplement that were meant to be cut out and assembled.  The sets use the same images that were issued by the Woolson Spice Co of Toledo Ohio as an insert premium in their brand of LION COFFEE (listed as series K33 in the American Card catalogue).   The set is from a series of  OCCUPATIONS.  Each set consisted of separate pieces that could be slotted together to depict a scene of the particular occupation. The front of the cards does indicate the number designated to set in the series as well as advertising for the Buffalo Sunday Express.   As you can imagine these tended to have pieces torn off during play.  This series is Number 5 in the set and features A TAILOR .  The piece measures 5  inches by 4 1/2  inches approximately at its tallest and widest points.  The set does have some creasing, and a bit of damage to one of the stand up folds.  Other than that the set  features strong color and I think displays very well.  I have scanned the set both front and back fairly large for you to be able to judge condition for yourself.
This is a rare and highly desirable cross over collectable.
    It is covet
    ed
by paper doll and toy collectors and BUFFALO NEWSPAPER  advertising collectors,    Because of the fact that it was issu
    ed
as a toy to be play
    ed
with, and that it is fairly fragile to begin with, not many have surviv
    ed
    over the 120 plus years.
I  will be trying to list several  EARLY TRADE & TYPE CARDS over the next few days (spread across different categories),
including one or two that are unrecorded in any guide, that were put given away with Tobacco, Caramel, Candy, Gum, Chocolate, Bread Coffee Tea Cereal and other products, covering such diverse subjects as Native American Indians , Baseball , Football, Boy Scouts, Ice Hockey, Golf, Presidents of the United States, NCAA and IVY League Colleges and Universities and Circus themes.  To view the other cards I have up on ebay please click  on the “View Sellers other Items” Icon located on this page. It will take you directly to them.
I am actually located in Canada just across the border.  I have a U.S.A. mailing address, and I mail my items from the USA to avoid border delays.
Due to my work schedule and distance to the post office I am only able to ship  Monday Mornings
.  If I haven’t received payment for an item the EVENING BEFORE Monday  the item will have to wait until the next Monday  to go out. Its unfortunate but unavoidable.  If this doesn’t work for you I respectfully ask that you do not bid or buy. Thanks again
