    Description

    This fantastic card was issu
    ed
by the REIFSNYDER & Sons Music Store of Company of  Lancaster Pennsylvania  as a premium advertising MCPHAIL Pianos.  It is one from a rare series of  cards entitl
    ed
    , “
    CARDS OF STATES”,
although this issuer is not listed in any guide that I am aware of, it uses the same front illustration  as series D22 in Burdick’s American Card Catalogue that was issued by the Cushman Bread Company.
This card is of  NORTH and SOUTH DAKOTAS
Unfortunately neither Burdick, nor any other guide that I am aware of gives a date of issue for this series.  However I have done some research and found that the population information for each state given on these cards, matches that of the 1910 U.S. Census information exactly.  I believe that the U.S. Census was taken every 10 years so one has to assume that the cards were issu
    ed
sometime between 1910 and 1920 (This time period also matches the subjects of many of the card images .i.e. steam engines and horse and carts ect.). The front of the card features  The Coat of Arms, the State Flower and a scene that was representative of the that particular State or Territory at the time of issue.  The front also features a fair amount of factual information pertaining to the state (which I have previously mention
    ed
    match
    ed
that of the 1910 U.S. Census). The back of the card features advertising for the piano, and company  The Card measures 4 3/16  inches by 2 13/16   inches  approximately.  The card  is free from creases, with strong color. I have scann
    ed
the card fairly large, both front and back for you to be able to judge condition for yourself.
I  will be trying to list several  EARLY TRADE & TYPE CARDS over the next few days (spread across different categories),
including one or two that are unrecorded in any guide, that were put given away with Tobacco, Caramel, Candy, Gum, Chocolate, Bread Coffee Tea Cereal and other products, covering such diverse subjects as Native American Indians , Baseball , Football, Boy Scouts, Ice Hockey, Golf, Presidents of the United States, NCAA and IVY League Colleges and Universities and Circus themes.  To view the other cards I have up on ebay please click  on the “View Sellers other Items” Icon located on this page. It will take you directly to them.
I am actually located in Canada just across the border.  I have a U.S.A. mailing address, and I mail my items from the USA to avoid border delays.
Due to my work schedule and distance to the post office I am only able to ship  Monday Mornings
.  If I haven’t received payment for an item the EVENING BEFORE Monday  the item will have to wait until the next Monday  to go out. Its unfortunate but unavoidable.  If this doesn’t work for you I respectfully ask that you do not bid or buy. Thanks again
