Description
This card is one in a series of 24 cards issu
ed
by the F. WIDLAR company of Cleveland Ohio. They were issued as a premium to advertise their brand of Black Cross Coffee. The series is not recorded in any guide I am aware of (ACC, Non Sports Bible ect.) As far as I know the images used in this series are unique to this issue. I have not been able to find a date of issue for this series but I speculate it to have been issu
ed
around the 1910’s era, based on the “guaranteed under the food and drugs act June 30, 1906” statement on the back of the card
.
The front of the card features a colorful image of a beautiful woman wearing the National Costume of the country and a scene indicative of the country in the background. The back features advertising for the product, and makes mentioned that a full set of 24 of the cards without an advertising on them could be had from the company on exchange. This card feature SPAIN. The card measures 4 1/4 inches by 2 3/4 inches approximately.
The card is free from creases and displays nicely. I have scann
ed
the front and back of the card fairly large so you can determine the condition for yourself.
I will be trying to list several EARLY TRADE & TYPE CARDS over the next few days (spread across different categories),
including one or two that are unrecorded in any guide, that were put given away with Tobacco, Caramel, Candy, Gum, Chocolate, Bread Coffee Tea Cereal and other products, covering such diverse subjects as Native American Indians , Baseball , Football, Boy Scouts, Ice Hockey, Golf, Presidents of the United States, NCAA and IVY League Colleges and Universities and Circus themes. To view the other cards I have up on ebay please click on the “View Sellers other Items” Icon located on this page. It will take you directly to them.
I am actually located in Canada just across the border. I have a U.S.A. mailing address, and I mail my items from the USA to avoid border delays.
Due to my work schedule and distance to the post office I am only able to ship Monday Mornings
. If I haven’t received payment for an item the EVENING BEFORE Monday the item will have to wait until the next Monday to go out. Its unfortunate but unavoidable. If this doesn’t work for you I respectfully ask that you do not bid or buy. Thanks again
