Description
circa 1800's: "Lutted's S.P. Cough Drops." Log Cabin Figural Cabin Jar- Authentic Antique Card: Illustration Depicts the classic Candy Container / glass bottle, jar.
The original antique pressed glass figural log cabin jar for Lutted's Cough Drops is shown on this 1800's card.
"The pattern is known today as Log Cabin but was originally called Pattern #78.
It was made by Central Glass Company of Wheeling, West Virginia which introduced the pattern in 1875.
James Lutted of Buffalo, New York was a leading candy maker and wholesaler of retail
display cases and candy jars. Original Candy Jar Containers like the one pictured on this trade card are
sought after by both collectors of early country store advertising and figural glass.
Originals are almost always clear; colors of vaseline, blue and amber are known but are very rare.
