MFJs innovative Differential-T Tuner uses a differential capacitor that makes tuning easier than ever. It gives minimum SWR at only one setting. Broadband coverage ends constant re-tuning. The MFJ-986 is a rugged roller inductor antenna tuner that handles 3KW PEP SSB amplifier input power (1500 Watts PEP SSB output power). It tunes 1.8 - 30 MHz continuously, including MARS and WARC bands.
MFJs exclusive AirCore Roller Inductor gives absolute minimum SWR -- something tapped inductors just cant do. 3-digit turns counter plus a spinner knob gives precise inductance control so you can quickly re-tune your frequency. A lighted peak and average reading Cross-Needle meter shows SWR, forward and reflected power at a single glance!
You get 6-position antenna switch that lets you select two coax lines and/or random wires (direct or through tuner), balanced line and external dummy load. The MFJ TrueCurrentBalun for balanced lines minimizes feedline radiation that causes field pattern distortion, TVI and RF in you shack. Ceramic feedthru insulators for balanced lines withstand high voltages and temperatures.
Replacing two variable capacitors with a single differential capacitor gives a wide range T-Network tuner with only two controls -- a tuning capacitor and a roller inductor. Simple 2-knob tuning makes tuning easier than ever. You get minimum SWR at only one setting a broadband response that ends constant re-tuning. You'll spend your time QSO'ing instead of fooling with your tuner. The compact cabinet has plenty of room to mount the roller inductor away from metal surfaces for highest Q -- you get high efficiency and more power into your antenna.
Wide-spaced tuning capacitor plates let you run high power without arcing. MFJs lighted Cross-Needle Meter shows you SWR, forward and reflected power simultaneously. It reads peak or average power on 2000 or 200 Watt ranges. The lamp has on/off switch nd uses 12 VDC or 110 VAC with MFJ-1312D.
More tuners use a voltage balun that forces equal voltages on the two antenna halves. It minimizes unbalanced currents only if the antenna is perfectly balanced -- not the case with practical antennas. The MFJ-986 uses a true current balun to force equal currents in the two antenna halves -- even if the antenna is not perfectly balanced! The MFJ TrueCurrentBalun gives superior balance over voltage baluns and minimizes unbalanced current. This reduces field pattern distortion, concentrates your power for a stronger signal plus it reduces TVI and RF in your shack caused by feedline radiation.

GigaParts offers a 30 day warranty against manufacturing defects on all NEW items sold on eBay. Most items will offer a longer factory warranty, please contact the product's manufacturer for specific warranty information. GigaParts can only warranty items that are in NEW condition, unmodified, with the original packaging materials, manuals, accessories, warranty cards, and UPC tags in NEW condition. Items not in NEW condition should be returned to the manufacturer for warranty service.
Modifications void your warranty (especially radio MARS/CAP modifications). While radio manufacturers will typically take the cause of any problem into consideration, there is no guarantee that they will warranty your radio if it has been modified, even if the modification was not the cause of the defect. Modified radios do not qualify for direct replacement unless GigaParts performed the modification. We guarantee our MARS/CAP modifications will not void the manufacturer’s warranty for a period of 1 year. However damage caused by transmitting outside the ham bands may not be covered under warranty. Generally, radios that have been modified after purchase are not returnable.
If your order was damaged in shipping or appears to have been opened prior to delivery, please notify the delivery driver and report the problem to GigaParts within 2 business days. Claims for items missing from your shipment must be reported to GigaParts within 2 business days of delivery and the shipping box and all packaging materials must be retained until the claim is settled. Shipping cartons are designed to protect your item while in transit and damage to boxes or packaging materials is not grounds for a claim unless the actual item sustained damage.

GigaParts accepts returns for refund or replacement within 30 days of the original invoice date.
Defective items can be returned for a full refund or replacement. Items returned as defective will be tested to verify all claims. After testing, if the item is found to be functioning properly, the buyer may incur restocking and/or shipping fees being deducted from the refund.
GigaParts will provide a prepaid return label for defective returns so long as the item is shipping within the contiguous United States (lower 48 states). For products shipped outside of the contiguous United States (lower 48 states), the buyer is responsible for return shipping, even on defective items.
Non-defective returns for refund or exchange are subject to a minimum 15% restocking fee. If your order was shipped, refunds for orders shipped with free freight will be charged the shipping costs. Refusal of shipments may be subject to additional charges and refunds and exchanges for these items will not be processed until the shipment has returned to our dock. The buyer is responsible for any return shipping fee's for non-defective returns.
