    Description

    This gold/brass-hued pinback (tie tack, lapel pin, hat pin, etc.) is crafted of brass colored metal alloy (no precious metal content). Brass colored gripper back (may not be the original, and the one you receive may not be the exact one pictured, but same gripper style). The body of the helicopter model is about 0.75" in length or 1.25" including the rotors, and 0.38" in height. It was made in approximately 1968 and distributed as a novelty or souvenir at Army aviation meetings and expositions.

    The Chinook is an American twin-engined, tandem rotor, heavy-lift helicopter by American rotorcraft company Vertol and manufactured by Boeing Vertol (later, Boeing Rotorcraft Systems). It's first flight was  September 21, 1961 and it was put into service the following year. With a top speed of 184 mph and able to carry 36 troops (including crew) and 26.000 pounds, the CH-47D Chinook is the U.S. Army’s primary heavy troop and supply transport aircraft. Originally fielded in the Vietnam War, the CH-47 has undergone a series up upgrades to increase lift and airworthiness in combat environments.
