    Description

This is an original 1940s neon sign face from the Gold Star Tavern. Gold Star Tavern was located in Armstrong, Pennsylvania and opened in 1937. It was owned by Geraldine Desiderio, whose name is still visible at the bottom of the sign if you look carefully.
The sign was hand painted on galvanneal, which paint notoriously doesn't adhere well to. For this reason, I have applied a coat of satin polyurethane to prevent further chipping and paint loss. The aluminum can has been completely rebuilt and is brand new. It contains a brand new transformer, as well as new red neon (I know the photo makes it look orange or gold, but it is actually red). I measures approx. 39.5" wide, 24.5" tall (not including eye hooks), and 6.5" deep (not including glass). It is a very reasonable size to fit in pretty much any vehicle you'd like to use for pick up. This is a beautiful piece that would look great on display somewhere.
Please contact me with any questions before purchasing. I will not ship this sign, but am happy to work with any shipping company that you make arrangements with.
