    Description

They are back! Fun to build, a laser cut kit that anyone can assemble!
This is a parts kit to build your own desktop radio stand/cooler for the following Yaesu mobile radios..
    FTM-100
    FTM-400
    FT-7800
    FT-7900
    FT-8800
    FT-8900
It will also fit some other previous models of Yaesu mobiles that used the same mounting bracket.
    What you get...
    Laser cut Birch panels
    Power switch
    Four feet
    What you need in addition...
    80mm fan
    Some wire
    Glue
    Finish (optional)
    What you do...
This Birch finishes up nice, i usually just lightly sand both sides and leave the blackened edges from the laser cutting as its a nice contrast to the finished wood, then assemble the sides, front and back, and top panel into a single unit, then i stain the wood with plain old wood stain and a spray on finish of polyurethane, as well as finish the bottom panel. Then final assembly.
Purchase or scrounge an 80mm 12v fan from your junk box, the fan gets screwed to the top panel first, you can use standard wood glue and clamp it up to allow drying or assemble the box and glue the seams inside with hot glue or epoxy, whatever you want. Its a DIY kit! Add the bottom panel and attach to the fan with screws to hold on the bottom panel, don't glue on the bottom or you wouldn't ever be able to replace the fan if necessary! Glue the four feet into their holes on the bottom panel, a little dab of hot glue works perfect for this, or super glue, etc.
    Wiring it up...
I usually take the radios power pigtail and remove the contacts from the shell, solder on the wires to the fan unit on the crimped terminal and then reinsert into the shell, so that the factory power cord when plugged into the radio also powers the fan unit. But you can do it any way you want, just run the positive to the switch and from the switch to the fan and hook up the ground. Easy wiring that anyone can do!
I have been selling a 3d printed version of these for some time now, as well as finished wood versions, but due to the labor and time involved with finishing these i decided to start offering them as kits, you get it cheaper and can put your own personal touch on it with different finishes, paints, stains, etc. And who doesn't like kit building??
Also, if you would like your callsign or name engraved on the front panel i can do that for an additional charge, just ask!
